The Kidrate program at the Koei-Kan Karate School is for children from the age of 3-10 years old. The program is divided into 6 week training blocks one day a week. The classes are half an hour long. Short enough to keep young children's attention and long enough for them to learn.
At the beginning of the program students typically earn a new belt rank at the end of eacch 6 week block. As the student progresses the earning of belts/ranks becomes more difficult and the student may have to go through two 6 week blocks in order to earn their next rank. This teaches young children the important concept of delayed gratification. In today's day and age of everything now this lesson becomes a valuable tool to help children understand that everything is not now!
Many students use the Kidrate program as a stepping stone to the Traditional Koei-Kan program. The Kidrate program gives the student a great base and helps younger children decide if they are ready for a larger commitment.
