Greetings from Afghanistan! First I want to thank you for all those years of training that has made my life here easier and also made me a better soldier. The terrain here is probably the most rugged on earth. It's basically all mountains, and with 40 pounds of body armor, and a 40-pound backpack on top of that, getting to the top is no small task---and one always accompanied by injuries, dehydration, and heat exhaustion. I’m happy to say that I’ve been on many missions out in these mountains and never held up the mission due to injury or exhaustion. But I have at times taken on extra weight when others couldn’t handle it, and have helped carry Soldiers and Marines to the medical evacuation helicopter when they could no longer go on. I have kept in the best shape possible, time permitting, but I will always attribute my endurance to my 9 years of training with you Sensei, and everyone I've trained with at Koei Kan Karate Do.
